May 18,2009 The Sri Lankan government announced, news of the killing of the LTTE leader Velupillai Pirapakaran swamped international news media today. Selvarajah Pathmanathan chief of LTTE’s international relations, in a phone interview to the London’s Channel 4 News TV dismissed Sri Lanka’s claim, saying Mr. Pirapakaran is safe and alive in another location. Due to security reasons he was unable to reveal further information on Mr. Pirapakaran’s whereabouts. Meanwhile unconfirmed civilian reports from Colombo said, Tamils in Colombo are being forced to fly the Sri Lankan national flag in their homes and also pay a ransom of Sri Lankan rupees 500.

Friday, May 22, 2009 Quoting the head of the International Secretariat of the Intelligence wing of the LTTE, Mr.Arivazhagan, Tamilnet.com today said, that the LTTE leader Mr.Velupillai Pirapakaran was safe and sound. Mr. Arivazhakan, who contacted TamilNet Friday categorically denied the reports that the LTTE leader Mr. Velupillai Pirapaharan has been killed, TamilNet further said. It also quoted Mr.Arivazhan as urging the global Tamil Community not to trust the "engineered rumours," being spread |

by the Government of Sri Lanka and its military establishment. "Our beloved leader is alive," he said and added that the LTTE leadership will make contact with its people at a suitable time in future, Tamilnet quoted Mr.Arivazhagan as saying. |

June 2, 2009 The Times newspaper reporting on Sri Lanka said the British continued to sell arms to Sri Lanka despite its human rights abuse. The newspaper also alleged that the British have sold 13.6m sterling pounds worth arms to Sri Lanka, in contravention to the 1998 EU Code of Conduct on Arms Exports that restricts business with countries facing internal conflicts or with poor human rights records and a history of violating international law.

Reports reaching from Colombo indicate Sri Lanka’s foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama is being sidelined by President and his brothers Mr.Bogollagama is said to be going through this misery for more than a week. News leaking from sources close to foreign Ministry in Colombo said, sidelining of Minister Bogollagama came to light, when the decision to deport Mr.Bob Rae former Premier of Canada’s Ontario province was taken by the defense Secretary and Presidents brother Gothabaya Rajapakse. Sources further said Mr.Bogollagama also was excluded from delegation that visited the Indian foreign secretary this week
